“Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.”
Inspired by the words of Emily Dickenson this delicate fused glass feather combines the lightness of flight with the fleeting permanence of ice.
Each feather is handmade using crushed transparent glass (or ‘frit) fired to a contour fuse which causes the grains to retain their delicate texture and detail. A second firing over a ceramic mould creates the subtle curve of a forgotten feather cast down from the sky.
